Sway bars
I called Roadmaster this morning to get some more information on their Active Suspension system. During the conversation I asked them if the vans in the video with the before and after instillation sequences were equipped with sway bars. He said no, they were just stock off the showroom floor vans. I was a little surprised with this. I thought most new vehicles came with sway bars. Does anyone know if new vans come stock with sway bars? Are they an option item or maybe aftermarket?

Re: Sway bars
Aren't the vans in the videos Dodge vans? If so, Dodge hasn't made passenger vans (Sprinters aside) in quite a few years (since 92?, 94?). I would think any recent vehicle would have sway bars.

Re: Sway bars
Every Ford van I've looked at has a front anti-sway bar, and no rear bar.

+1 ! Even though most stock anti-sway bars are terrifically undersized for much more than the stock chassis---adding almost anything more load wise really pushes them to their limits of performance.
Most every stock suspension bushing for the movable parts are of such soft material they're largely ineffective even when brand new---after a few years they're typically degraded enough they're almost useless.
Rear bars are an option on most chassis unless they've been special ordered by the original owner.

Re: Sway bars
My 2011 Sprinter has a rear sway bar, as part of a suspension package option. On my crawls underneath, I did not pay close attention to whether it had a front sway bar. Will look next time.

Re: Sway bars
My 2002 EB had a front sway bar, no rear, and aftermarket rear Deaver springs when I bought it. Adding a Hellwig rear (anti-) sway bar really helped.

Re: Sway bars
The guys at the 4x4 shop that fubar'd my shock install SWORE that I would die without a rear swaybar. Not having one has never been an issue... including driving 14 hours with one shock.

Re: Sway bars
I also agree with Mike, every new Ford van I've seen has a front anti-sway bar, and no rear. I had a Hellwig rear on my last van and I saved it to install on my current van. I never needed it or missed it so I never installed it.
