N/W Nevada

Anyone with experience with the N/W part of Nevada like to offer up some recommendations? Not really interested in Burning Man, but want to spend a few days in the area between Gerlach, Cedarville, & Denio.

Any specific favorite spots, hot springs, etc. ?

Pretty hot time of the year to soak up there, but if you do early morning or late evening, it can be okay. Bog hot springs, near Denio Junction, is a great place to park/camp/soak.

Eagleville is a nice place to stop on the way to nowhere, but be careful parking on the side of the road there. I once backed off a wheel with my Taco and all that saved me was the locking diff.

You can head up to Hart Mountain refuge for a nice warm spring and great camping, not far from that area. Nothing much in Vya except pretty country. Good camping and a nice warm pond at Sheldon Wildlife Refuge. Lots of other stuff, too.

When you going?

Re: N/W Nevada

We have a few days off the 1st week in August so we will mosey our way around, take in the sights, pick up a few rocks, etc. If it gets too hot, we will head for the Sierras or Warner Range.

I love visiting that area. Desolation, vistas, hot springs.

If you like to 4x4, here's my favorite spot: 41.4427,-95.7129 (Clifftop View of Black Rock Desert)
